Adrian Bennett

Adrian Bennett

Dentist with a special interest in Orthodontics

Adrian is an examiner, supervisor and honorary clinical teaching fellow at the University of Warwick on the Orthodontic MSc course and has given several presentations on multidisciplinary orthodontics in general practice. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and the College of General Dentistry where he is an examiner for the orthodontic diploma.

He has been providing orthodontic treatments for children and adults in private general practice for over 18 years and is experienced in a wide range of fixed and removable appliances; incorporating orthodontics with advanced restorative and implant treatments.

He is an Elite Invisalign Go provider, an Elite Damon-System provider and an Accredited Incognito provider

In 2018 he was Portman Dental Group Clinician of the Year and provides orthodontic treatments on referral in five of their general private practices

In 2017 he won the British Orthodontic Society case presentation Award and was invited to present the case at the Winter Study Day in 2018

Andy Lane

Andrew qualified from the University of Bristol with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1978, followed by the Diploma in General Dental Practice, Royal College of Surgeons, UK in 1993 and a Master of Philosophy in 1999 for dental research at the University of Manchester.

Andy has written and lectured widely on cosmetic dentistry, facial pain, managing headaches and jaw joint problems, and restoring worn or broken down teeth to health.

He won the SmithKline Beecham Dental Practice Innovation award in 1995 and the Manchester Postgraduate Dental Society Award for research in 1999.

He was a founder of the British Society of Occlusal Studies in 1986. Other positions held include Dental Vocational Training Advisor in General Dental Practice and the UK Chairman of the American Equilibration Society.

Andrew Legg

Andrew began his postgraduate training in Oral Surgery & Implant Dentistry in 2004 and has since undertaken countless hours of training including an 18 month Clinical Certificate in Implantology at the University of Sheffield and Advanced Surgical Training at the Royal College of Surgeons. Andrew has experience with several of the major implant systems including Straumann and Nobel Biocare.

Andrew has previously worked as a Clinical Teaching Fellow in Oral Surgery at the University of Manchester. He has been a lecturer for Nobel Biocare and was the clinical lead for the Tipton Training implant courses. He is now in partnership with Colin Campbell and together they run the Campbell Academy: An implant teaching company dedicated to raising the standards in implant treatment in the UK. Andrew also accepts referrals for Oral Surgery.

William Yu

William is one of our associates and graduated from the University of Manchester in 2009. His talent in Dentistry was noticed early on when he was awarded the Edgar Houghton Operative Skills prize along with his Bachelor of Dental Surgery.

William’s special interest is in Implant Dentistry and sedation. He has been placing Dental Implants for 10 years, and has completed the ‘gold standard’ of Implant post-graduate training at the Royal College of Surgeons, London. He received his diploma in implant dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2018. William has worked with many different Implant systems over the years, and understands the newer techniques in bone grafting. He often spends his free time attending courses to further his knowledge and even calls dental implants his main hobby!

William has also gone further with his sedation training and completed a post-graduate certificate in dental sedation and anxiety management, from the University of Edinburgh in 2021. But don’t let his “fresh” face fool you, William has been practicing dentistry for 12 years and also has good experience in oral surgery and endodontics.

Helen Clay

Mrs Clay qualified in Manchester in 1987.

Initially she worked in Lancashire but moved to Cheshire in 1993. In addition to treating dental patients Helen has over 17 years of experience in specialist orthodontic practices where she has gained a wealth of experience treating patients requiring treatment with braces.

Throughout her career she has been a regular attended at post graduate courses aimed at keeping up to date with advancements in dentistry and orthodontics and has enjoyed training staff members.

Since joining Laburnum Helen has been enjoying meeting our patients to discuss their concerns about their "crooked" smiles and discussing short term orthodontic solutions which can be combined with restorative dentistry if necessary to create straighter smiles in as little as six months.

Outside work Helen enjoys walking her dogs and regular trips to Scotland and Italy.


Jonathan Chan

Jonathan qualified from The University of Manchester, before completing his training in Oxford. He has a keen interest in minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry, completing a one-year long post graduate training course in Advanced Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry at Advanced Dental Seminars in London. He has also attended courses in Veneers, Invisalign and Quick Straight Teeth.

Jonathan’s calm manner and friendly nature make him great with nervous patients. Jonathan understands visiting the dentist can sometimes be a daunting experience, so will take the extra time to really get to know you and listen to your concerns. His main priority is to making you feel comfortable and have an enjoyable experience when visiting Apollonia House.

Outside of work, you can find Jonathan playing golf, skiing or in the peak district climbing, spending most his free time outdoors.

Matt Apollonia

Matt qualified from Sheffield University in 2010 with a Bachelors in Dental Surgery. He went on to do his vocational training in a practice in Manchester and also spent a year as a Senior House Officer in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery unit at North Manchester General Hospital. Following his postgraduate hospital work, Matt continued to work in the Manchester Practice providing high quality dental care with a caring attitude.

In 2015 Matt passed the postgraduate diploma examinations for membership to the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

After previously working with Laura Rice in the Manchester practice Matt was invited to join Apollonia in early 2019.

Currently Matt is enrolled on a diploma in advanced cosmetic and restorative dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons.

Matt is an active member of the British Dental Association.

Dr Funmi Oluwajana

Funmi qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2013 in the top 3 in her year with honours and distinction in clinical dentistry. She then spent a year in London where she completed foundation training and membership exam for the Royal College before doing 3 years of further training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Restorative dentistry. Funmi is currently training to be a Consultant and specialist in Restorative Dentistry (which encompasses the specialties of endodontics, prosthodontics and periodontics) at the University of Manchester. She also recently completed the Chief Dental Officer’s Clinical Fellowship Programme where she took on a role at Health Education England, influencing the reform of education and training pathways for the dental team

Dr Leandros Vassiliou

Mr Leandros Vassiliou DDS MD MSc FRCS, graduated with grades ‘excellent’ in both Dentistry and Medicine in the University of Athens, having received numerous distinctions and honours throughout his undergraduate training in both faculties.

He was awarded the membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2010 in the United Kingdom. He completed the Oral & Maxillofacial Training in the London Deanery having worked in the University London College Hospital, King’s College London Hospital, St George’s Hospital and Guy’s Hospital London. He was awarded a Fellowship in the Royal College of Surgeons in 2016 having received the Gold Medal in the Final Specialty exam – the highest distinction. He is now practising as Consultant Oral Maxillofacial and Head and Neck Surgeon in North Manchester. Mr Vassiliou is an honorary Lecturer of Medicine in the University of Liverpool.

Mr Vassiliou’s research interests include; DNA damage and cancer biology, head and neck oncology and reconstructive surgery and tissue engineering. He has a rich academic portfolio including publications in high impact factor journals and over 3000 citations.

Dr Pawel Arkuszynski

Dr Arkuszynski graduated in 1995 and completed his specialist training in anaesthesia and intensive care in 2003. He came to the UK from Poland where he had worked as a Consultant Anaesthetist and Intensivist at The Paediatric University Hospital in Lodz.

Dr Arkuszynski started his UK career as staff grade in anaesthesia and intensive care in April 2005 at The Pennine Acute Hospital Trust. He started at The Christie in November 2007, initially as a locum NHS consultant, and in September 2009 he was appointed as substantive CCU and anaesthesia consultant.

Dr Adam Glassford

Adam carries out Dental Implant, Sedation & Cosmetic Dentistry on patients referred by other dentists as well as those that self-refer. He has limited his clinical practice exclusively to these clinical disciplines.

Adam Qualified in 1996 from Leeds University with BChD. He has undertaken numerous postgraduate courses.

Adam is an extremely experienced dental surgeon with a special interest in dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, sedation and facial aesthetics. He holds the Advanced Implant Diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the diploma in Conscious Sedation. Adam has a national reputation in implant dentistry and is one of Straumann’s Leading Dental Implant Providers in the world, providing dental implants for over 18 years and having placed over 7000 dental implants.


Gillian Mills

Gill has been a hygienist for over 20 years now and has been a member of the Apollonia House team since April 2000. Gill resides in Huddersfield along with her husband Richard and daughters, Grace and Beatrice.

Gill’s interests include organising charity fund-raising events, she was blessed with a delightful singing voice and has been known to deliver an outstanding impersonation of Shirley Bassey at various functions.

Gill has a natural flare for writing poetry and often uses this skill to surprise other members of staff on special occasions with a personalised ditty or two.


Lynda Moore

Lynda qualified with a CEB Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 1995 in Leeds. She joined City Centre Dental Practice in 2003.

Lynda has a special interest in teaching oral hygiene techniques and ensuring that the best products are suited to her patients.

She is married with two children who take up most of her spare time but she enjoys the outdoors and touring the UK in her caravan.

I am originally from Canada, moved to the UK in 2004. After qualifying in Canada as a dental assistant my passion was always to deliver oral health to patients. In 2005 I attended the Greater Manchester School for Professions Complementary to Dentistry gaining a diploma in dental hygiene (honours) and therapy. After working in both private, specialist and NHS settings I furthered my knowledge gaining a deeper understanding of the subjects earning a BSc (Hons) in Dental Studies from The University of Central Lancashire in 2013.

My passion is treating patients with mild to severe periodontal disease (gum disease) while helping them learn the importance of improving and maintaining their oral health. In particular, I enjoy treating those patients who have not attended the dentist in many years for various reasons including fear and anxiety. Through a personalised treatment plan I can help patients improve their gum health.

In my spare time she enjoys going on family holidays, running and scrapbooking.

Ann-Marie qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 1981, at Manchester Dental Hospital.

Accruing 39 years experience in all aspects of dental environments, ranging from hospitals, general NHS practice and Private Dental Practices.

She's been fortunate to work with many eminent Periodontists throughout her 39 years carrying out periodontal treatment (Within her scope of practice )to their prescription.

Ann-Marie has continued her Dental education throughout her career, attending many skills and educational courses. She is an active and committed member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy since qualifying and stood on the committee for many years.

Ann-Marie has been a Dental Hygienist at Apollonia since 2004 She has passion and enthusiasm for her role at Apollonia House and genuinely cares about her patients and working towards their healthy mouth and what they want to achieve.

Ann-Marie is married with two children whom have both finished their university education and are working in London (hopefully returning to Saddleworth).

Natalie began her work at Apollonia House in June 2000, after reading Natural Sciences at The University of Bath and gaining a 2:1

She is married to Adrian, and they have two sons, Tom (4yrs) and Oliver (1yrs)

Natalie is also Andrew Lane’s daughter and has been working within a family-business environment since she was 15.

In her spare time, Natalie likes running and spending time with “the boys”.
